[ thursday night twilight ]

What a night! Along with enjoying the smooth sounds of the Santa Monica Pier, we also were able to catch up with our friends; some of which have recently graduated and are ready to leave us for college. It couldn't have been a more perfect afternoon as we walked along the Pacific watching the sky dip its bright blue into deep orange reds.   The concert opened up with the eclectic vibes of King leading to an unforgettable performance by the goddess herself Yuna Zara’ai.  There was a contagious kind of warm energy radiating from the thick crowd as Yuna sang the captivating tracks from her most recent EP, Nocturnal  (Which you should really take a listen to if you haven’t already)... no seriously, she’s amazing.  After the show, feeling completely elated, we somehow found ourselves backstage where we briefly congratulated the Malaysian artist on her performance and tried to see if we could get a good look at the cute lead guitarist (to no avail: he left the backstage party minutes after we entered it)

The night ended with some nice moments spent standing in the shallow black waves lapping the shore. The water was warmer than the freezing sand, and we eagerly dipped in our numbing toes.

[ mid-summer chilling ]

Empty watermelon rinds, sand-filled sneakers, and the beating sun: Santa Clause and the snow are cool and all but nothing kills it like summer. The day was spent dazing, catching up, dancing --> choreographing (although one of us is much better at that than the other), and gushing about music (Yuna, anyone?). And while we were rapping our hearts out to the amusing lyrics of Childish Gambino we suddenly, spontaneously decided to make a blog to showcase some of our more experimental outfits.

What to name this blog? We decided to think about it for all of one minute... it's summer, and we're bored, but we're not in the mood to brainstorm, ok? Looking around the room for inspiration, we first looked to the Dali-inspired melting clock. Melting clock. What a cool name! Taken! And for a blog that doesn't even post. After a couple seconds of disappointment, we then looked at the other side of the room. "Lamp!" Imani said. "Lace lamp." I added. And then we erupted in giggles.

Finally, looking now towards the slightly open door of the closet, a shimmering item caught our eyes: my holographic wooden-based strappy sandal platforms. And then there was light. Holographic. Holographic what? Our holographic lives, silly! Duh! (Kidding, we're not preteen valley girls).

And although this is a lifestyle blog, what better way to start that with our outfits. More particularly, Imani's outfit, because it's perfect. But have fun looking at mine as well!

And here are the shoes that started it all:
